Re: Hall-Edwards v. Ford Motor Company $19 Million Plaintiff’s Verdict against Ford in Miami Dade County.

On Friday evening January 25, 2013 at approximately 8 pm, Bruce Kaster received a Plaintiff’s verdict in the amount of $19 million dollars in the Circuit Court of Miami-Dade on behalf of his client, Joan Hall-Edwards, who lost her son in a Ford Explorer rollover accident.

Lance Hall was a 19 year old, who was a passenger in la Ford Explorer. This case was tried for the first time to a $61.2 million dollar verdict that was taken away by the appellate court and went to trial two more times over the next ten years. This is the second time the case has gone all the way to verdict and the jury again awarded more than was asked for by Plaintiff. The jury again found the Ford Explorer to be a defective vehicle in both handling and stability.

According to Mr. Kaster, “We established that this model Explorer was defective in handling and stability based primarily on the testimony of the Ford Engineer who had recommended in 1989 that the Explorer be modified by widening and lowering before it went into production. His recommendation was not followed for ten years resulting in thousands of unnecessary accidents, injuries, and deaths” in defective Explorers sold from 1990 through 2000.

This is just another tragic example of corporations placing profit over safety. Kaster and Lynch is committed to continuing this battle until Ford corrects these defective vehicles or recalls them.
